Take the test βIf you've been employed for 2+ years, you're entitled to statutory redundancy pay calculated on your age and length of service. AI-driven restructuring counts as redundancy if your role ceases to exist. Your employer cannot reduce this entitlement by reframing it as "performance management."
If 20+ redundancies are planned in 90 days, collective consultation of at least 45 days is required. For individual redundancies, a fair process including genuine consultation, consideration of alternatives, and right to be accompanied must be followed. Failure to consult is unlawful.
Minimum 1 week per year of service (up to 12 weeks) if you have 2+ years' service. Your contract may give more β whichever is higher applies. Your employer cannot unilaterally reduce contractual notice, even in an AI-driven restructuring.
After 2 years' continuous employment, you have the right not to be unfairly dismissed. If your employer claims your role is redundant due to AI but the real reason is different, or if the selection process was unfair, you may have an unfair dismissal claim. ACAS Early Conciliation is the first step.
